Last year's GFC had a big impact on the way job hunters view their current job and what triggers them to move into their next job.

CareerOne's Hunting the (Hidden) Hunters report has been conducted pre, during and post-GFC (2008, 2009 and 2010). Our latest 2010 report findings include:

bullet.gif People are now more considered about changing jobs, signalling they want to be sure the economy is improving before making a move to another job.

bullet.gif Pay alone is no longer enough to sway potential candidates. The right team environment has become as important as pay.

To attract candidates in 2010, Recruiters and Employers will have to work smarter to provide a package that will justify the risk of moving and will address job hunter needs.

To find out how candidates needs have changed within each of the CareerOne segments and what they now value when looking for their next role, download the entire Hunting the (Hidden) Hunters report.

This week, our inspiring profile is of Yvonne Kane, Managing Director of Kane Consulting.

How do you define personal success?
Happiness - some people think that finding happiness is easy but it isn't - it is actually a skill within itself. Having a fantastic work life balance - family time should come first. I used to think being successful in my career would always be top of my list until I had my daughter Charlotte, now my success will be measured also by how successful she is.

What do you see as the biggest employee related challenge facing businesses?
Managing stress levels of staff and dealing with employee's personal issues. Also understanding that corporate culture starts at the top and if this is instilled incorrectly, it filters downwards and creates a really bad work environment that can be hard to repair. The right type of culture takes work and focus to continue to provide an environment where employees can perform at peak levels.

If you were asked to hire your successor, what qualities would you look for?
I would actually hire a combination of myself and my husband as I think that we make a perfect combination as a team, someone who is creative with lots of drive, great sense of humour (goes a long way in business), is particularly good at managing staff and bonding with clients, and someone who has worked out the art of lifestyle balance.

If you could instill one new personal belief into your entire workforce, what would it be?
Stay positive in an economic downturn.

Before an important business meeting, what mental preparation would you do to ensure a successful outcome?
I blank out all negative thoughts from my mind, even if I am having a bad day. I charge myself up and make sure that I have thoroughly researched the company so that I am absolutely prepared. I understand my terms of business fully and am ready to negotiate in a sales pitch.
Remember - you only get one chance to sit in front of a new client - make sure you kill it!

During changing economic times, what is the biggest challenge leaders have?
Managing stress levels and redeployment - making staff redundant and ensuring that this is done properly. Managing individual department budgets, profit & loss to maintain efficiency.

If you had to name one thing that has contributed to your success, what would it be?
Believing in myself and remaining positive - using all of the traits that I got from my grandfather - he is the best networker that I have ever been exposed to.

How do you maintain balance in your busy life?
Prioritise - you have to do this, or you will leave the important things to last and then find yourself in trouble. I try my best to accomplish the most I can in each day, with balancing my daughter and my business and having quality time to spend with my husband and friends. I have a fantastic husband who helps me to feel successful every day.
